START DATE: Fall 2009
This project involved the conversion on the former St Stanislaus Orphanage into thirty apartments. The Orphanage closed in 1972 and the buildings totaling approximately 45,000 square feet remained vacant until construction began in the Fall of 2009. After a twelve month construction period this facility was transformed from an eyesore into first class apartments.
This project was funded in part with historic tax credits and all work was in strict compliance with Pennsylvania Historic and Museum Commission as well as National Park Service guidelines. The project was so successful the Weinberg Foundation provided a grant to convert the recently closed church on the campus into an Intergenerational Center. Construction on that project commenced in June 2011.
